“All future events will have a digital element – it's simply not realistic to deny that”

Ben Hainsworth, managing director of medical association EASL, talks to VEI editor Alison Ledger about pivoting to digital for EASL's annual congress and the future of association events.

Hainsworth has spent 25 years working in the international not-for-profit sector with senior leadership roles at the European Society of Cardiology, K.I.T. Group, and the International Liver Transplantation Society.

He joined EASL, the home of hepatology, shortly before Covid hit, which turned everything the association did "upside-down".
